About Us

Celebrating Culture. Connecting Communities.

The Kamloops Hindu Cultural Society (KHCS) was founded in 1991 with a vision to create a welcoming space where Hindu values, traditions, and culture could be celebrated and passed on to future generations. For over three decades, we have been a cornerstone of the South Asian community in Kamloops, nurturing spirituality, cultural pride, and a strong sense of togetherness.

Our Mission

To preserve and promote Hindu traditions through cultural, educational, and religious programs while fostering inclusivity and unity among the diverse communities of Kamloops.

Our Activities

At KHCS, we bring people together through:

Cultural Celebrations

Festivals like Diwali, Navratri, Holi, and Janmashtami filled with music, dance, and devotion.

Religious Gatherings

Sanskrit and Vedic teachings, devotional prayers, and pujas that bring spiritual growth and harmony.

Community Engagement

Social events, youth programs, and family gatherings that strengthen connections across generations.

Educational Programs

Opportunities for children and adults to learn about Hindu philosophy, language, and traditions.

Our Vision

We are working towards establishing a Hindu Temple in Kamloops, a sacred space that will serve as both a spiritual and cultural hub for generations to come. This temple will symbolize unity, devotion, and cultural heritage in the heart of our community.

Celebrating Culture, Connecting Communities Since 1991

When our community comes together, culture thrives.
Our programs celebrate inclusivity, nurture spiritual and cultural identity, and unite individuals across generations.

Our Values

Guided by the timeless wisdom of Hindu philosophy, KHCS is built on:

  • Seva (Service) – Giving back to the community selflessly.
  • Sanskriti (Culture) – Preserving and sharing traditions through celebrations and teachings.
  • Sangathan (Unity) – Bringing people together in harmony and respect.
  • Samskara (Values) – Instilling gratitude, compassion, and devotion across all generations.

Our Legacy

From humble beginnings to becoming a thriving cultural society, KHCS has always been powered by the love, support, and commitment of our members, volunteers, and sponsors. Together, we have created a vibrant community where everyone feels at home.
